Live Again Devotions
Day #14
“When Your Luck Dies”
Acts 20:9 (NLT) As Paul spoke on and on, a young man named Eutychus, sitting on the windowsill, became very drowsy. Finally, he fell sound asleep and dropped three stories to his death below.
The Apostle was being long winded in preaching his message to those in Troas. Evidently the dim lights didn’t help the atmosphere and a young man, named Eutychus, sitting on a window ledge got sleepy and fell three stories and dies. Paul went to him and bent over him and embraced him and spoke life into him, “Don’t worry,” he said, “he’s alive!” (Acts 20:10 NLT)
Sometimes the climate of this world causes us to sleep spiritually. Even when we go to church and hear apostolic messages, the sinful slumber causes us to fall asleep and die. But we serve a God of resurrection. He is able to raise us up from the state of spiritual death. Like Eutychus, we may need the help of someone else. Preferably an apostolic servant of God.
Eutychus means “lucky.” When your luck in life dies, there is a God that will embrace you and speak a life of blessing into you. Perhaps you feel, ‘if it weren’t for bad luck, you wouldn’t have any luck at all.’ Maybe you feel discouraged because nothing ever seems to go your way. You’ve tried this and that, but in spite of your efforts others continue to get lucky while your fortune remains the same.
You must trust that God will give you life, more abundantly. Allow the breath of His Spirit to breathe into your spiritual lungs so you can LIVE AGAIN! Though things seem dead, remember you serve a God who can resurrect any dead thing that you lay at His feet.
So when your luck dies, God will cause the blessing of life to rise and you will LIVE AGAIN! So don’t worry just keep speaking life!
