Live Again Devotions

Day #16

“Smell Life”

Job 14:7–9 (NLT)

7) “Even a tree has more hope! If it is cut down, it will sprout again and grow new branches.

8) Though its roots have grown old in the earth and its stump decays,

9) at the scent of water it will bud and sprout again like a new seedling.

There is hope for the dead things of your life to live again.  Even if a tree has suffered a deadly blow (being cut off at the base), there is still hope for that tree to live again.  Even though the roots begin to die in the ground and the stump begins to decompose, if it smells water nearby it will begin the process of survival and live again.

If there is hope for a tree to live again, surely there is hope to for you and me.

Just like a dying tree needs to smell water nearby to survive, we also need to get around water to start the process of the dead things of our lives to regain life.  Someone once said, “No water, no life.

We need to get around lively sources in order to smell the water of life for our dead situations.  The scripture depicts God as a form of water.

Psalm 42:1–2 (NLT)

1) As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.

2) I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him?

Psalm 63:1 (NKJV). O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.

Seek God to begin to smell the living water.  Seek Him early… seek His Spirit in prayer, seek His Word by reading it, seek His people through fellowship, seek His “man of God” through submission, seek His face through intercession, seek His presence through praise and worship.

God is your spiritual water source!  He is the source of all your resources.  He is life!  Get thirsty for God and drink from His fountain and you will LIVE AGAIN!

Revelation 21:6 (NKJV). And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
