Live Again Devotions

Day #3

“His Spirit Is Life”

Romans 8:10 (NKJV)  And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

The Spirit of God gives you life.  The New Living Translation, put it this way “…the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.”  There is nothing like it in all the world.  The Bible says that “God is a Spirit” (John 4:24).   It also says that God is life (John 11:25).  So, it is correct to conclude that the “Spirit is life.”

When you receive the Holy Spirit, you receive a fountain of life.  That Spirit within (not outside of you) will begin to bring life to the dead things of your life:  dead thinking, deadly behavior patterns, dead dreams, dead aspirations, dead gifts, dead talents, and dead relationships.  When you have been made right with God, things in your life will begin to live.  You will have lively thoughts.  You will exemplify lively actions.  You will dream again.  You will have hope and aspire to do great things for God.  You will discover gifts and talents that you never knew were there.  You will have lively and energetic relationships with those dear to you.

However, one encounter with His Spirit is not enough.  You must continually follow the Spirit.  Galatians 5:25, says, “Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”  Every area of your life will begin to change, because the Spirit of God will begin to breathe into it.  Transformation, resurrection, and restoration will gradually begin to unfold … “line upon line; here a little and there a little” (Isaiah 28:10).

The word “transform”, in a few places in the Bible, means “metamorphism.”  It gives the picture of a caterpillar carefully crawling out of its cocoon so that it can be transformed into a beautiful flying butterfly.

So, stay connected to the transforming Spirit of God that will help us LIVE AGAIN and fly!
