Live Again Devotions

Day #7

“Speaking Lively Words”

Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

The power of the tongue is one of the greatest powers that we have at our disposal, whether for good or bad.  It’s already powerful to think thoughts, because we become what we think, let alone speaking them.

We have the great ability to choose to speak words of death or life.  No one can use our tongues to speak words.  It is our own tongue that speaks them.  We can’t blame others for what we say.  We alone bear that responsibility.

If we choose to speak negative words, we dig our own deadly grave.  We must be careful not to say the negative words that we think in our deadly thoughts, whether they are thoughts for ourselves or other people.  They can perhaps be unproductive thoughts of unbelief, doubt, fear, insecurities, negativity, lack of self-esteem, hurt, bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, envy, jealousy, etc.  If we give them expression, through our tongue, they will begin to squeeze the life out of us.  You will soon attract deadly spirits that will bring fatality to your existence.

On the other hand, if you choose to speak positive words, whether they be constructive words about youself or someone else, you will produce the sweet fruit of victorious living.  You will not be enslaved to the enemy of your soul, that comes to kill, steal and destroy.

You have the power in your tongue to determine the course of your life.  No one in the world can determine your outcome in life but you.

Jesus admonished us to use our tongue to speak to obstacles in our lives and they will move, as recorded in…

Mark 11:23 (KJV)  For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Washington Irving said, “The tongue is the only tool that grows sharper with constant use.”  Let’s make sure our tongue gets sharper while speaking words of life and not death.

If speaking words of life brings incredible success to us, can you imagine what can happen when we speak in tongues (praying in the Spirit)?  We will then experience the manifestation of God’s power in our lives.  We will be changed as His Spirit transforms our renewed minds while praying in the Holy Ghost.  The benefits are endless!

So, speak positive words so you can LIVE AGAIN!
